ExplorePennypack Trail
Converted from the Fox Chase-Newtown Branch line, the 5.6- mile Pennypack Trail runs from Rockledge Borough on the Philadelphia / Montgomery County boundary, north to Byberry Road. The trail features scenic views of the Pennypack Creek, cliffs, and woodlands of the Pennypack Ecological Trust Property (PERT). The multi-use trail provides outdoor recreational opportunities such as biking, jogging and walking. Designated trail head parking is located at Welsh Road (Route 63) and Terwood Road. There is also a new parking lot on Byberry Road (next to Masons Mill Business Park).

Up the road from Huntingdon Valley lies the Borough of Bryn Athyn. The Borough was founded as a religious community in the late 19th century by members of a Christian denomination known as the New Church. Located in this small municipality is The Byrn Athyn Historic District; designated in 2008 as a National Historic Landmark. This historic district features three architecturally stunning buildings: Bryn Athyn Cathedral, Cairnwood Estate and Glencairn Museum. All buildings are open to the public and available for tours.

The Huntingdon Valley Library has been serving the Bethayres and Huntingdon Valley community for over 100 years. In 1995, the library joined the Montgomery County Library and Information Network Consortium, a non-profit organization whose members are the public libraries in the county.

Today, the library serves as a resource and information center; the goal of the library is to enrich the lives of the residents of Lower Moreland Township by meeting their educational, cultural and recreational needs. The library also provides a variety of educational programs and events for children and adults of all ages.

Enjoy hiking, picnicking, horseback riding and other outdoor activities at this beautiful 230 acre park. Founded by George Horace Lorimer, former Editor-in-Chief of The Saturday Evening Post, Lorimer Park features bucolic woods and meadows and is a haven for bird and animal watching.The Pennypack Creek, which runs through the park, is stocked with trout by the PA Fish & Boat Commission each year. Lorimer Park is open daily, 7:00am to sunset.

The Pennypack Ecological Restoration Trust is a nonprofit conservancy headquartered in Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania. Founded in 1970, the Trust protects over 812- acres of preserved natural area and is staffed by professionals and volunteers who are dedicated to the stewardship of the lands.

The Fetters Mill Village Historic District is a national historic district located both in Byrn Athyn Borough and Lower Moreland Township. The historic district encompasses five contributing buildings and three contributing structures. They are a wagon shed / John Conner studio (1751), Alnwick Grove Train Station (1870), Bryn Athyn Train Station / Post Office (1902), farmhouse (1790), stone barn, two iron bridges (1883, 1916-1917), and a milk platform (1900).

Valley Center Park

Lower Moreland’s newest park, Valley Center Park consists of 31 acres for active and passive recreation. Its current amenities and features include a lighted synthetic multisport field, one mile nature trail through Fairway Farm, playground and park pavilion and restroom /concession building.The 90,000 square foot state-of-the-art synthetic field supports a variety of sports including soccer, field hockey, lacrosse and more. Field rental time slots may be available for a single event or a season when not in use by permitted events.

Lower Moreland Park
Parking on Warfield Drive and Wheatsheaf Lane (Albidale Neighborhood)
Nestled in the Township’s largest development, Albidale, Lower Moreland Park spans 19 acres and contains three baseball fields, two basketball courts, four tennis courts, a walking path, playground and multiple soccer fields.

Ridgway Park

Found along Philmont Avenue near the five points intersection of Tomlinson, Philmont, and Pine Road, Ridgway Park with 7.5-acres, is an extremely accessible public recreation area for both athletic activities and children’s recreation. In addition to a newly renovated softball field, Ridgway contains a large play area for children of various ages, basketball and tennis courts. Parking is available off of Philmont Avenue on Manor Road.
